HEIDELBERG, Germany – Heidelberg’s unbeaten boys and once-beaten girls claimed two victories each Friday and Saturday in Region III match-ups against visiting Hohenfels.

Heidelberg’s boys, paced by 27 points on Friday and 16 on Saturday by All-Europe senior guard Eugene Jones, improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in Region III with 70-51 and 73-32 victories over the Tigers, European Division II runners-up in 2010.

Heidelberg’s girls, meanwhile, extended their current winning streak to five games with 49-14 and 45-6 romps over the Lady Tigers. After suffering a one-point, non-regional defeat Dec. 3 at Kaiserslautern, Heidelberg’s girls have gone 5-0 overall and 4-0 in Region III games.

Friday, the Lady Lions rode a game-high 10 points from Christina Muehlbauer and a game-high 11 rebounds by Star Jones to victory in a game they led 31-3 at the half. Saturday was more of the same. Heidelberg, behind a game-high eight points from Jones and a game-high eight rebounds from Romina Fears, outscored Hohenfels (1-4, 0-3) 15-2 after leading 30-4 at intermission.

In the boys’ showdowns, Jones outscored his fellow 2010 All-European, Jamie Tompkins, in both games. Tompkins totaled 22 points on Friday and 12 on Saturday as Hohenfels fell to 2-3, 0-3. The Tigers are scheduled to visit Patch on Friday and Saturday, while Heidelberg is to entertain Black Forest Academy those same days.

Black Forest’s boys and girls haven’t played since each won at Mannheim on Dec. 11 . BFA’s boys are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in Region III; the BFA girls are 2-1, 1-1.
