HEIDELBERG, Germany - Division I-South-leading Heidelberg posted its second straight shutout, blanking winless Patch, 21-0, on Saturday behind two touchdown runs by Chris Cuthbert.
Cuthbert, who finished with 113 yards on 15 carries, scored on runs of 35 and two yards as the Lions, who were coming off a 14-0 victory in the rain at Vilseck, improved to 3-0. Heidelberg plays at Wiesbaden this Saturday in a rematch of the Lions’ 47-21 home victory over the Warriors on opening day.
Quarterback Kevin Gray was 6-of-9 passing for 81 yards, a total that included a 22-yard TD pass to Chase Boone. Boone finished the day with two grabs for 64 yards.
Linebacker Xavier Moore led Heidelberg’s defense with 12 tackles, two of them for losses. Defensive lineman Carlos Dillon included a sack among his six tackles, and Wayne Dawkins made nine stops.
Ryan Frary led Patch (0-3) with 13 tackles. Kenny Hill topped the Panthers’ offensive chart with 60 rushing yards. He also recovered a fumble.
