The future of DODDS-Europe volleyball is in very good hands.
Eight of the 12 players selected to the All-Europe girls' volleyball first team are non-seniors, indicating a vibrant young talent base that will keep the sport competitive in the coming years.
Rota junior and two-time Stars and Stripes player of the year Aspen Luna headlines the selections, announced Tuesday by DODDS-Europe athletic director Karen Seadore. She's joined by three sophomores in Lakenheath's Eliza Evans, Patch's Mercedes Deets and Sigonella's Rachel Vosler.
Teammates dominated the first team, as Ansbach, Lakenheath, Naples, Patch and Ramstein each placed two players on the squad alongside Division III standouts Luna and Vosler.
Ansbach, Lakenheath, and Ramstein shared the largest overall presence with three players across the first and second teams.
In a fitting end to its program, shuttering Heidelberg landed a pair of seniors on the second team in hitters Aneli Whitford and Emma Roberts.
