D’Andre Weaver was named to the Independent Interscholastic Athletic Association of Guam boys basketball All-Island team.
The Guam High sophomore was the only Panther named to the 10-player first team.
Weaver averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds per game in pacing the Panthers to a 6-7 regular-season record. They went 2-4 in last month’s Far East tournament, then lost in the IIAAG playoffs Saturday, losing to four-time island champion St. Paul Christian 55-36.
Weaver’s brother Devin was selected All-Island last year.
“Following in his brother’s footsteps,” coach Joe Taitano said by telephone from his home in Dededo. “It’s a good start for him. I’m glad that they [IIAAG] were able to recognize him.”
