MANGILAO, Guam — Jeremy Manglona wrestled down running back Dakota Loffi on a potential winning two-point conversion Saturday, preserving Father Duenas Memorial’s 13-12 Interscholastic Football League playoff victory over Guam High.

The Friars (10-1) advanced to Saturday’s IFL championship game at four-time defending champion George Washington (8-3), while the Panthers (4-8) play Simon Sanchez (7-4) for third place on Friday.

Torus Washington was 8-for-14 for 114 yards and two touchdown passes to Rey Tenorio for the Panthers. The second one was a 15-yarder with less than four minutes left which sliced the Friars’ lead to one.

Guam High co-athletic director Rebecca Gist indicated that the Panthers might protest the game’s outcome due to “several questionable calls” by the game officials.

Will Williams threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jor-El Williams and ran 3 yards for a score to account for the Friars’ points.
