KADENA AIR BASE, Okinawa — Banyan Tree Golf Course is rolling out its beginner’s golf program Sept. 30.

The “Link up 2 Golf Program” gives those new to golf a chance to participate and learn about the sport in a relaxed environment.

The program costs $99 and features eight hours of group instruction, including an on-course playing lesson, club rental, three rounds, and a three-hole graduation scramble. Registration begins Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. at the course.

In addition to taking care of the beginner’s needs, the course has also scheduled a tournament for experienced players. The Sept. 27-28 “Home and Home Challenge Golf Tournament” is open to men and women.

The challenge is limited to 200 players, 100 from the Banyan Tree and 100 from Awase Meadows Golf Course. Sign-ups are under way and end Sept. 21. To enter, players must have a verifiable handicap.
