A German Little League official has invited American baseball players of all ages to join local German clubs.

Claus Helmig, the Germany District Administrator for Little League Baseball, said Americans are eligible to play on German Little League teams in their neighborhoods.

“We have teams all over, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Mannheim, everywhere,” Helmig said Thursday by telephone. “Interested Americans can call me, and I’ll put them in contact with a team in their area.”

Helmig, who speaks fluent English, can be reached at 0621-412529.

German teams play in the European, Middle East and Africa Little League Regional in Kutno, Poland. Military community teams compete in the Trans-Atlantic Regional in Poland in qualifying for Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

Helmig also coaches the Darmstadt Whippets of the German-American Baseball League and invited adults to try out for his team. Anyone interested should call him for details on time and location.
