Five Pacific-based soldiers have been chosen for All-Army teams and All-Armed Forces tournaments in September, All-Army tryout camp officials announced.

Three soldiers in Korea, including seven-time All-Armed Forces outfielder Dexter Avery of Camp Henry, were picked for the All-Army men’s softball team, playing in the All-Armed Forces tournament this week at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

Avery is joined by Andre Elder and Jim Perez of Camp Stanley. They’ll also compete for berths on the All-Armed Forces team, which plays in the Amateur Softball Association national majors Sept. 15-18 at Sanford, Fla.

Also, Laurie Aaron of Suwon Air Base, South Korea, and Evevetta Crawford of Okinawa’s Torii Station were selected for All-Army women’s basketball.

The All-Armed Forces tournament is Sept. 9-17 at Ventura Naval Base in Port Hueneme, Calif. Following that is the International Military Sports Council (CISM) championship, scheduled for Oct. 1-8, also at Ventura.
