STUTTGART, Germany - Conor Carlton’s first-half PAT kick stood up for the margin of victory Saturday as Patch defeated Vilseck, 7-6, for the Panthers’ first victory of the season.

The kick followed a Kenny Hall touchdown plunge, set up by Jalen Darby’s interception return to the Vilseck 36-yard line. It gave the Panthers a 7-0 halftime lead.

Vilseck’s bid to tie the score in the late going came up short when penalties on the Falcons’ point-after try made the kick the equivalent of the 30-yard field goal, according to Patch coach Brian Hill. It was short, and the Patch defense held.

“The kids played hard,” Hill said by telephone Saturday night.

Both teams will be battling for their playoff lives this week. Vilseck (1-3) travels to unbeaten Heidelberg while Patch (1-3) hosts Wiesbaden (2-2).
