MIESAU, Germany – Football players age 14 to 18 can still register for the Kaiserslautern High School Boosters Club Youth Tackle Football Camp to be conducted here June 19-22, camp organizer Ray Bolton said Tuesday.
According to Bolton, Marshall University offensive coordinator John Shannon is directing the camp, which offers instruction for individual positions by college and professional coaches. The instructors, who include Arizona Cardinals defensive backs coach Rick Courtright, Tennessee Tech linebackers coach Justin Shannon, Wittenberg (Ohio) defensive coordinator Andy Waddle and Cumberland College (Ky.) offensive coordinator Edgar Weisner, also will provide individual player evaluations for each camper.
Fees are $300 for overnight campers, who will be provided a bed and linens, and $270 for day campers. Registration is possible though the Booster Club Web site, http://khsboosterclub.org/6.html. Vicenza to host soccer clinicVICENZA, Italy – A soccer officials clinic will be conducted Monday through June 14 at the Body Shop in Vicenza.
Dan Heldman, a stateside trainer of instructors since 1999, will conduct the clinic. It is designed to train participants, who will then teach others to become officials for programs ranging from Child and Youth Services to unit- and community-level games. Attendees will learn field mechanics, current rules and new developments in the sport. They’ll finish with a written test and practical examination in a tournament on the final day.

Basketball camp beginsHEIDELBERG, Germany – Openings remain available for the 2008 Heidelberg Lions Basketball Camp, which will be held June 16-20 at Heidelberg High School.
The day camp, for boys in grades 7-12 next school year, will include instruction on ball handling, shooting, passing, rebounding and running the fast break, plus individual, team and man-to-man defense. Daily three-on-three games and a camp-ending all-star game are also on the schedule, and trophies will be awarded in nine categories.
Instruction will be provided by camp director Brad Shahan and Ron Merriwether, both Heidelberg High coaches, and Adrian Crawford of Mannheim High School.
