The 2008 U.S. Forces Europe Mountain Bike Series will feature 11 races, beginning May 10 in Aviano, Italy, and concluding Sept. 27-28 with a two-day championship meet in Garmisch, Germany.
Unlike past seasons, the final meet will determine the 2008 champions, Kelly Nebel, a USAREUR Morale, Welfare and Recreation official, said Wednesday while releasing the schedule.
Nebel said riders may enter as many or as few of the other events as they wish and still be eligible for season-ending gold.
The complete schedule is posted at www.mwr-europe.com, and a memorandum of instruction with race sites and points of contact for each event is expected to be added to the site soon.
Stuttgart to host boxingThe Panzer Casern gym in Stuttgart, Germany, will be the site of a boxing card March 29. Weigh-ins are 8 a.m. to noon and the first bout is 7 p.m., organizers said. Admission is free.
