BaseballPatch sweeps European foesSTUTTGART, Germany – The Patch Panthers hosted a three-team tournament Saturday and defeated the Debrecen (Hungary) Tigers 13-5 and the Sindelfingen (Germany) Squirrels 11-6.

According to Patch assistant Shawn Phelps, Ohmar Gonzalez pitched the first four innings against the Hungarians and got the victory. Just one of the four runs yielded by Gonzalez, who struck out eight and gave up five hits, was earned. Grant Peterson pitched the final two innings.

Justin Quimby and Cavan Cohoes each homered against the Hungarians. Cohoes, Gonzalez and P.J. Redmond each stroked two hits for Patch.

In the nightcap, four Patch pitchers combined to limit the Squirrels to two earned runs. Starter Dylan Measells struck out six in his three-inning stint of scoreless ball. He gave way to Redmond, who allowed two hits and three unearned runs over the next two innings before yielding to C.J. Kellogg. Kellogg was touched for three runs, two of them earned, in his inning, and closer Justin Phelps struck out the side in pitching the final frame.

Patch (4-0) had little trouble at the plate. Measelles went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs; Phelps was 3-for-5, and Redmond and Cohoes, who tripled, both went 2-for-3.
