Mannheim, behind two goals each from Taisha Jackson, Anna Cressler and Alanna Crockwell, took control of the Region III race Saturday with a 6-1 romp over Würzburg.

Cressler added two assists for Mannheim (6-0-0 overall, 4-0-0 in Region III), which needs only a tie against visiting Black Forest Academy in its regular-season finale next Saturday to claim the regional crown.

Ishia Sumah scored for Würzburg. Mannheim’s goalkeeping tandem of Tristian Ledesma and Natalie De Luna was called upon to make just two saves.

In other girls games of note:

Kaiserslautern 5, Ramstein 0: On Saturday at Kaiserslautern, the unbeaten Lady Raiders took a giant step toward the Region II title with a romp over the defending European D-I champions.

All-Europe striker Liana Knight scored two goals in each half, and keeper Pia Coffman made 12 saves as the Lady Raiders dominated the field, according to their coach, Cynthia Jackson.

Kaiserslautern (4-0-3 overall, 4-0-0 Region II ) closes its season this Saturday at AFNORTH (3-2-0, 2-1-0). Ramstein (4-1-1, 2-1-0) ends its regular season the same day at Bitburg.

Heidelberg 2, BFA 1: On Friday at Kandern, the Lady Lions (3-2-1 overall, 3-1-0 in Region III) rebounded from their loss last week to Mannheim behind goals from Lauren Brousseau and Lindsay Braden.

Heidelberg coach Jim McCauley praised the play of Brousseau, whom he had playing several positions on Saturday. Alyssa Krause scored for BFA (3-3-0 overall and 3-1-0 in Region III).

AOSR 3, Naples 2: On Saturday at the American Overseas School of Rome, Anna Battaglia’s second-half free-kick goal from 25 yards out threw the American Schools in Italy league race wide open.

Naples (4-1-1), which led 2-0 on goals by Courtnee Wilson and Michela Gruannello, could have all but clinched the league crown with a victory. But goals for AOSR (4-1-0) by Antonia Gudnadottir and Derby Ruspoli evened the score at 2 at halftime to set the stage for Battaglia.

Marymount 3, Aviano 1: On Saturday at Marymount International School of Rome, the Royals took a 3-0 first-half lead and coasted into this Saturday’s title game against visiting AOSR.

Aviano (3-2-0), which got its goal from Tiffany Hight, closes its regular season Saturday at Sigonella.

SHAPE 4, Menwith Hill 0: At SHAPE, Belgium, Dominique Anduaga-Aria scored twice as the Lady Spartans (5-1-0 overall, 3-1-0 in Region I) handed the Lady Mustangs their second loss in two days.

Menwith Hill was shut out 1-0 by Brussels on Friday.

According to SHAPE coach Shawn Whitehurst, Anduaga-Arias “was once again instrumental in developing and sustaining the play” in Saturday’s game. He added that Brittany Brown, who “peppered the goal with seven hard shots from outside the penalty area,” fired one over the head of Menwith keeper Kat Townsend for a goal. Townsend made 19 saves.

Townsend kept the Lady Mustangs (0-4-1 overall and in Region I) in Friday’s game with 24 saves.

Marlena Schlattmann, assisted by Lizz McVicker, scored the game’s only goal in the second half.
