Martial-arts competitors of all ages are invited to participate in the first European Military World Championship Qualifier Tournament on May 17-18 at Patch Barracks in Stuttgart, Germany
Participants will be trying to qualify for the World Organization of Martial Arts World Championships, scheduled for August at Castlebar, Ireland.
It is an open tournament for competitors — both U.S. and non-U.S. — in the European theater or with the U.S. Africa Command. Martial artists 5 years and older in all styles and ranks are eligible for the meet, which will send the four top finishers in each division to represent the United States in Ireland.
Entry fee is $20 for three events. Competitors must complete registration forms, available at www.bluewaveinternational-tkd.com by April 21. Payment deadline is April 28.

Heidelberg hoops camp on tapThirty-two berths are open for boys who will be in grades seven through 12 next year and want to attend the 2008 Heidelberg Lions Basketball Camp.
The day camp, which will be held at Heidelberg High School June 16-20, will include instruction in ball-handling, shooting, offensive moves, rebounding, and individual and team defense. Daily three-on-three games and a camp-ending all-star game are also on the schedule. Trophies will be awarded in nine categories.
Instruction will be provided by Brad Shahan and Ron Merriwether of Heidelberg High School and Adrian Crawford of Mannheim. Guest speakers also will address the campers.

Prep lifters poised for Lift OffWiesbaden High School’s track coach Dave Eidem is again directing the high school Lift Off.
The Lift Off, unsanctioned by DODDS, provides an opportunity for weightlifters at DODDS high schools to track their progress against their peers in other DODDS schools in Europe and the Pacific.
Participants have until May 16 to have their best efforts witnessed by their school’s Lift Off coordinator and reported to Eidem.

Graf to host 10-MilerThis year’s IMCOM-Europe Army 10-Miler will be run May 31 in Grafenwöhr, Germany.
The event chooses the USAREUR team for the Association of the U.S. Army Ten-Miler in Washington in October. Registration will be at the U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwöhr Fitness Center.
