The Naples Wildcats girls soccer team is living close to the edge in its quest to keep its three-year unbeaten streak alive.

Naples survived a scare from Aviano earlier this season before emerging with a 1-1 tie. Saturday, it was American Overseas School of Rome’s turn.

But the Wildcats showed they had just enough again as Jillian Thurston scored on a corner kick from Gabriella Arce for a 1-0 victory. The Naples defense once again proved tough to score on.

Aviano 3, Marymount 1: Saturday at Aviano, the Saints got their first victory of the season thanks to two goals and an assist from Allyson Dinges – and the fact that the Lions were playing with only nine players.

Vicenza 3, Sigonella 0: Saturday at Sigonella, Alex Frank had two goals and an assist and Tatiana Miranda added one of each.

Patch 4, Vilseck 1: Saturday at Stuttgart, Caroline Rivera scored twice as the Panthers stayed unbeaten in Region III play at the expense of the Falcons.

Hohenfels 3, Heidelberg 0: Saturday at Hohenfels, The Tigers got the best of the Lions to earn their first region victory of the year thanks to a balanced scoring attack.

Ansbach 3, Baumholder 0: Saturday at Schweinfurt, the Cougars picked up their first victory of the season in a non-conference matchup against the winless Bucs.

Wiesbaden 5, Bitburg 1: Saturday at Bitburg, Meghen Smith scored twice as the Warriors tried to keep pace with region-leading Ramstein by topping the Barons.

Ramstein 4, Black Forest Academy 1: Saturday at Kandern, Madison Spohr had two goals for the unbeaten Royals in the Falcons’ season opener.
