Wiesbaden has it working on both sides of the ball
VILSECK, Germany -- The Wiesbaden Warriors paired their explosive offense with a sturdy defensive effort Saturday in a 38-9 defeat of the host Vilseck Falcons.
Mark Peltier carried nine times for 89 yards and three touchdowns for the Warriors, while Josh Blake collected 112 yards and a touchdown on 12 rushes. Chaz Gomez had 10 tackles and Deven Holland made eight to lead the Wiesbaden defense.
Xavier Bynes was again prolific for the Falcons. The Vilseck speedster carried 29 times for 221 yards and the team’s only touchdown while nabbing two receptions for another 61 yards.
Christian Brashears made seven tackles for the Falcons.
The loss was the second straight for Vilseck, which rushed to a big lead over defending champion Stuttgart a week prior before succumbing in a 40-26 non-conference loss.
Wiesbaden, too, dropped its non-conference opener. The Warriors’ 48-27 loss against Lakenheath proved their offense remained productive, while Saturday’s effort against Vilseck suggested a defense capable of making those points hold up.
Wiesbaden hosts Kaiserslautern next weekend, while Vilseck hosts Ramstein.
