STUTTGART, Germany – Daniel Arroyo threw a touchdown pass to Tyler Lewis, set up a second TD with a 53-yard completion and intercepted a Patch pass deep in his own territory Saturday to lift the Vilseck Falcons to a 21-12 victory over the Patch Panthers.Arroyo’s pick, which came with 1 minute, 39 seconds to play, was a fitting end to a game in which, as the coaches predicted last week, the defenses were dominant. Although Patch’s Justin Johnson-Rich rushed for 154 yards and two TDs, the first of them on an 82-yard breakaway run, the Vilseck defense, which did so much to defuse Wiesbaden on opening day, turned Johnson-Rich back on an attempted two-point conversion in the third quarter that would have tied the game at 14. The attempt followed his four-yard TD run. From there, the Falcons added a third TD on a 47-yard run by Carlton Campbell and the drive-ending interception by Arroyo.Arroyo had given Vilseck (2-0 overall and in Division I) an early lead when he found Lewis with an one-yard TD toss in the first quarter. After Patch answered with Johnson-Rich’s first TD run of the day to narrow the gap to 7-6 at the half, Arroyo put Vilseck on the Patch two-yard line with his 53-yard completion. Shawn Peebles took it in from there, and Jesse Partee’s second PAT kick of the day made it 14-6.Next up for the unbeaten Falcons is a Saturday showdown at Ramstein. Patch (1-1) is to play at Wiesbaden on Saturday.
