ANSBACH, Germany – It was a good run for Baumholder, the only 2012 Division III team among the eight to reach the 2013 Division II playoffs. But it ended unceremoniously Saturday.

The Division II stalwart Ansbach Cougars pounded the visitors from the outset of a 51-12 quarterfinal victory, mercilessly eliminating the Bucs and reaffirming the dominance they showed in an unbeaten regular season.

Ansbach already enjoyed a 14-0 lead seven minutes into the game. The advantage swelled to 27-6 by halftime; for good measure, the Cougars outscored the Bucs 16-0 in the fourth quarter.

Cougar running back Dorian Jones added another epic stat line to his growing collection, gathering 190 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries. Bailey Ward and Nick Abel added rushing touchdowns for the Cougars, and Ward threw another touchdown to receiver Damian Austin.

Defensively, Ansbach’s Josh Pleake and Austin Benton were all-around nuisances preventing the Bucs from settling into an offensive groove. Pleake made three tackles for loss, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble for a touchdown. Benton forced a fumble, made three tackles for loss and recorded two quarterback sacks.

Isaiah Wilson and Holden Giefer each threw for a Baumholder touchdown; Demonte Fisher and Isaak Giefer hauled in the scores. Nobleman Soule, Isaak Giefer and Michael Graves each made 12 tackles for the Bucs.

Ansbach will host SHAPE next weekend.
