STEEREBEEK, Belgium – The boys and girls from Waterloo posted a 4-0 weekend Friday and Saturday against Brussels of Division III.Friday at Waterloo, St. John’s boys thumped the Brigands, 78-28. Saturday at Brussels, St. John’s prevailed, 55-15. Brussels’ girls, the defending European Division III champs and winners of European titles in 2006, 2007 and 2008, played the St. John’s girls much closer, falling, 34-27, at Waterloo on Friday and 32-31 here on Saturday.The Lady Brigands fell victim to an 11-7 fourth-quarter rally on Saturday in a game in which Tahrek Lilly of St. John’s and Ana Marija Vasileva of Brussels tied for game-scoring honors with 10 points each. Brussels (4-4 overall), which along with Alconbury, Menwith Hill and Rota will take part in the annual Region I Small Schools tournament Friday and Saturday at Alconbury, got 11 points from Ali DeFazio on Friday.The Brigand boys (4-4), also ticketed for this week’s tourney at Alconbury, were led in scoring each day by senior Ryan Bottesini. He tallied 13 on Friday and 10 on Saturday for the outgunned Brigands, who were shut out in the opening quarter of each game. Ivan Cular backed Bottesini with 11 points on Friday and five on Saturday.
