RAF LAKENHEATH, England -- The Ramstein Royals remained undefeated and knocked off a rising contender for their throne Saturday with a 27-7 defeat of the host Lakenheath Lancers.

The win improves the defending Division I champion Royals to 3-0 in Division I play entering a championship game rematch with Wiesbaden on Saturday. The 27 points tied Ramstein’s season high for scoring, set previously in a 27-14 defeat of Kaiserslautern on Sept. 25.

Brendan Hicks paced the Royal offense with 134 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Marcus Smith rushed for 129 yards for Lakenheath, while Kenji Bernardo tossed a 3-yard touchdown pass to Jake Croft. Colten Menges paced the Lancer defense with 11 tackles.

The win denies Lakenheath a winning streak after it beat Vilseck 25-15 on Oct. 3. The Lancers host another DODDS-Europe power, second-place Stuttgart, on Saturday.
