RAF LAKENHEATH, England -- The reigning champion Ramstein Royals scored all of the game’s points after halftime Saturday to beat the host Lancers 20-0 in a rematch of last year’s DODEA-Europe Division I football championship game.

The evenly-matched game finally broke in one side’s favor late in the third quarter when Ramstein’s Makani Stenger scooped up a Lancer fumble and returned it 85 yards for the game’s first points. The Royals extended their lead in the fourth quarter on a Jason Jones fourth-down touchdown catch, then iced the game with four minutes to play on a 37-yard interception return by JJ Little.

Lakenheath had its share of highlights, notably a pair of fumble recoveries by Matt Krussick and interceptions by Collin Croly, Ayden Davila and Anthony Lewis. Offensively, Davila rushed 12 times for 62 yards and Caleb McIntosh caught three passes for 47 yards.

Gabe Davis picked up 47 yards on three carries for Ramstein.

The game was a worthy rematch of last year’s European title game, a 30-12 Royal victory. It was also the first of the year to count towards Division I postseason qualification, with Ramstein joining Stuttgart and Wiesbaden in an early three-way tie for first place at 1-0.
