RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- On paper, it was a matchup of the last two undefeated teams in DODEA-Europe Division I football. On turf, it was just another mismatch.
The Ramstein Royals continued their divisional dominance Saturday with a 40-0 trouncing of the Lakenheath Lancers, who entered the game with a 3-0 overall mark and 2-0 conference record that equaled Ramstein’s.
But the Lancers were far from Ramstein’s equal on Saturday.
The Royals scored 20 unanswered points in each half to earn their fourth double-digit victory in as many games, taking outright control of first place and clinching a winning divisional season in the process.
Dom Arizpe carried 21 times for 116 yards and three touchdowns, JJ Little totaled 116 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries and Bailey Holland rushed 17 times for 100 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, the Royals snuffed out Lakenheath’s vaunted running game. Miquel Smith totaled five tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery, Kyle Lloyd had five tackles and a sack and Holland added five tackles in a standout two-way performance.
Ramstein faces Wiesbaden on Oct. 13 and Kaiserslautern on Oct. 20 to close out the regular season. Lakenheath hosts winless Vilseck on Oct. 13 after DODEA-Europe’s league-wide bye next weekend.
