STUTTGART, Germany — The Patch Panther rifle team made up for last month’s third-place finish in the DODDS Europe marksmanship tournament by winning the Army JROTC National Air Rifle Precision Class championship last week at Anniston, Ala.According to Patch coach Jack Wayne, Allie Carlson led the way for Patch, posting the top precision overall qualification score and the second-best overal final score. She and her Patch teammates — Mercedes Romih, Chaz Gillespie, Addison Flynn and Josh Sloan — bested 14 other teams for the national championship.Hohenfels, which won the DODDS Europe competition, finished sixth in the same category. The Tigers’ top shooter was Kathleen Waldrop, who finished fifth overall. She was joined by Keyera Howard, Erin Redden and Rene Bourgeois on the team.Patch will return to Anniston on March 21-28 to compete in the All-Services National Championships, Wayne reported.
