BAMBERG, Germany – The defending European Division I champion Patch Lady Panthers pulled no punches Saturday in a 10-0 season-opening blanking of the Bamberg Lady Barons.Sophomore Alee Stenzel and senior Elysia Verones each scored twice for Patch, which didn’t miss a beat despite the defection of All-Europe striker Janelle Loney to the Patch softball team this spring.Sophomore Caroline Rivera added two assists for Patch, which needed just three saves, one from Ellie Welton and two from Makaela Razo, to preserve the shutout.Next up for the Lady Panthers is a Saturday trip to Black Forest Academy for a region III duel. Bamberg will attempt to rebound by hosting Ansbach.
