The Stuttgart Panthers reclaimed the edge in their fierce girls basketball rivalry with the Ramstein Royals on Saturday at Ramstein, handling the home team 40-33 a day after the Royals earned a stunning 39-37 overtime victory.

Stuttgart post Ally Taylor continued her weekend-long dominance down low with an 11-point, 14-rebound double-double. Claire Troiano added 10 points and five steals while point guard Adan Maher produced six points, six rebounds and three steals.

The weekend’s games, the first for each team after the holiday break, were rematches of last year’s DODEA-Europe Division I girls basketball championship game, won by Stuttgart 36-8.

Saturday’s victory snapped a two-game losing streak for the defending champs, who also lost to Naples 39-35 on Dec. 9.

AFNORTH 32/23, Spangdahlem 15/18: At Brunssum, Netherlands, Kayla Lambiase hit two late free throws to force overtime Saturday and help secure a Lion sweep.

After a sizeable 17-point victory Friday, AFNORTH found itself down two points in the closing moments of regulation Saturday. Lambiase, who poured in 25 points on the weekend, dropped in two free throws with under two seconds to play to force the extra period, where the Lions outscored the Sentinels 6-1 to close out the second win over their Division II rival.

Josie Bosch and Rachel Lee controlled the boards for AFNORTH, posting a total of 14 rebounds apiece over the two games.

Black Forest 36/54, Rota 19/25: At Kandern, Germany, the defending Division II champions pulled their overall record to .500 with a pair of routs over visiting Rota.

BFA went 1-3 against Division I competition prior to the holidays, but demonstrated its ongoing Division II dominance with two blowouts of divisional rival Rota. The Falcons held the Admirals to single-digit scoring in all eight quarters and posted a potent 28-point first quarter Saturday to eliminate all doubt.

Grace Wettstone totaled 22 points on the weekend to pace a balanced Black Forest offense. Jessica Campbell produced 17 points and 21 rebounds over the two games.

Hohenfels 29/41, Baumholder 14/14: At Baumholder, the visiting Tigers mauled their hosts.

Billyanna Garland scored 31 points over the two games, including a 21-point outburst on Saturday, and grabbed eight rebounds in each game.

Maddy Black posted a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double on Saturday.

The Tigers have been dominant in Division III play this season, recording wins over Ansbach and Brussels prior to the holiday break. They’ll take a shot at Division I opponent Vilseck next weekend.

Brussels a stingy host in divisional meet: The Brussels Brigands welcomed visiting Division III opponents Sigonella and Alconbury to town over the weekend with a decidedly inhospitable defense.

Brussels held both visitors to single-digit scoring in beating Sigonella 16-8 on Friday and Alconbury 19-9 on Saturday. Dani Lynch provided the Brigands’ offensive punch with eight points in each game.

Sigonella recovered to post a 38-14 victory over Alconbury and a 27-22 defeat of Ansbach. Jessica Jacobs totaled 23 points over those two games.

Naples 56/54, American Overseas School of Rome 16/17: At Rome, the Division I Wildcats trounced their Division II hosts.

Victoria Sasse scored 13 points Friday and Jada Williamson scored 14 on Saturday to lead the way.

The victories kept Naples perfect on the season entering next weekend's showdown with divisional and regional rival Vicenza.

Kaiserslautern 36/40, Lakenheath 32/43: At Lakenheath, the Lancers and Raiders played to a Division I draw in a pair of close, hard-fought games.

Kaiserslautern won Friday’s opener behind a 19-point outing from Le’Jhanique Brown. Lakenheath countered Saturday as Asha Snipes dropped in 20 and Seraphina Raas grabbed 16 rebounds.
