MONS, Belgium – SHAPE stayed unbeaten in the young DODDS-Europe Division II football season Saturday with a narrow 14-8 win over visiting AFNORTH. The Spartans claimed victory in overtime, taking possession on an Austen Eperjesi interception and winning on a two-yard run by Conner Manning.

Only a SHAPE safety altered the scoreboard by halftime, setting up a harrowing finish. The Spartans added to that lead on the first drive of the second half, building an 8-0 lead on a 5-yard run by Manning. The Lions clawed back into the game minutes later when Logan Harless swatted a ball loose in the end zone and pounced on it for a touchdown. Victor Black tied the score with a successful two-point conversion. Manning finished with 160 yards rushing; he also completed a pass and caught another for 213 yards of total offense. Taylor Ator led the defense with seven solo tackles and two sacks. Quarterback Daniel Cordova completed 12 of 22 passes for 95 yards for AFNORTH. SHAPE gets a week off before visiting ISB on Sept. 27. AFNORTH will pursue its first victory of the season at Alconbury on Saturday.
