BRUNSSUM, Netherlands – Regardless of its relevance to the coming postseason, Saturday's game between AFNORTH and Rota was far from meaningless.

Claudius Karich kicked a 39-yard field goal with 11 seconds remaining to break a tie score and deliver AFNORTH a 24-21 victory over visiting Rota.

Both teams came into the game winless, at the bottom of the Division II standings and with no chance to sneaking into next week’s quarterfinals.

But the Admirals and host Lions nonetheless staged one of the regular season’s most competitive and compelling games as Rota roared back from a 21-7 halftime deficit to pull even and Karich replied with lengthy decisive kick for the home team.

Logan Harless rushed for 184 yards on 16 carries and scored twice for AFNORTH, while Andrew Perhson threw for 74 yards and rushed for another 59. Mike Graves led the Lion defense with 13 solo tackles and a quarterback sack.

Jonas Camacho carried 19 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns for Rota, whle Onele Lozano had 14 tackles and two sacks.
