MANNHEIM, Germany – Amber Marvin pitched three innings of perfect softball Saturday to get the Patch Lady Panthers started to a 15-0, 11-1 sweep of the Mannheim Lady Bison.
Marvin went the distance in the opener, retiring nine straight batters in a game which ended after three innings because of the 15-run rule, according to Mannheim coach Amanda Rogers.
In Game 2, All-European Bianca Lopez doubled twice and tripled in four at-bats to fuel the Lady Panthers to the five-inning victory.
The sweep landed Patch atop the Region III standings with an 8-0 record, one game ahead of Vilseck. Patch is scheduled to close out the regular season with games at Bamberg (6-2) on Saturday and at Vilseck (7-1) on May 14 and against visiting Wiesbaden (5-1) on May 21.
Mannheim (0-6) is scheduled to host Heidelberg on Saturday.
