RAF ALCONBURY, England—Jordan Portman went 4-for-5, and catcher Ashley Uballe threw out two would-be base stealers and tagged out two other runners at home Saturday to pace the Alconbury Lady Dragons to 12-5 and 11-5 victories over the Rota Lady Admirals.

In Game 1, Portman was 2-for-3 to back Marissa Cole’s victorious six-strikeout performance, according to Alconbury athletic director Duke Eidt.

Third baseman Ashley Steele tripled and doubled twice in three at-bats in the victory, which came despite seven strikeouts by Rota’s Natalia Rivera.

Portman was 2-for-2 in the nightcap, and second baseman Saybra Combes beat out two bunts for base hits as Alconbury improved to 3-7 for the season.

Catcher Uballe came up big defensively, tagging out two runners at home and throwing out runners at second and third.

Rota’s Rivera lost for the second time, despite fanning six more opposing batters. Rota (0-2 against DODDS-Europe teams) won’t play another team from the school system until the European Division III tournament May 26-28 at Ramstein.

Next up for Alconbury, idle this week, are doubleheaders May 13 at AFNORTH and May 14 at SHAPE. Both of those foes are Division II schools.
