They might be both chasing the defending champion Ramstein Royals. But don’t tell the Kaiserslautern Red Raiders or Patch Panthers they don’t have a shot at a DODDS-Europe softball championship this season. Both teams moved to 4-0 on the year Saturday with doubleheader sweeps. Only the Royals (6-0) have a better record at this point of the season.

Kaiserslautern 17/15, SHAPE 2/1: Saturday at Kaiserslautern, the Red Raiders scored early and often in both games, the first going three innings and the second five. Catcher Jamie Phillips starred at the plate, with two hits in each game. Lexus Quesada was dominant on the mound in the second game, giving up only one hit while striking out nine. Kaiserslautern visits Ramtein for its next games Friday. SHAPE travels to Lakenheath.

Patch 18/20, Wiesbaden 2/0: Saturday at Stuttgart, the Panthers played an inning less than the Red Raiders, downing the Warriors in three innings in the opener and four in the second game.

Jenny Sparks and Lexi Haddock drove in three runs each in the first game and Colleen Fenton knocked in four and pitched a shutout in the second game. The Panthers host Hohenfels on Saturday, while Wiesbaden entertains Schweinfurt on Friday in its next games.
