ROTA, Spain – International School of Brussels had no problem with the long journey to Spain on Saturday, blasting host Rota 40-6 in a Division II football matchup. The Raiders built a 20-0 lead through one quarter and coasted to victory in its DODDS-Europe season opener. The Admirals, moved up from the defunct Division III to the more grueling Division II this summer, fell to 0-2. An unstoppable ISB backfield carried the day. Quarterback Marshall Kontos threw for 111 yards and three scores; running backs Fernando Torrijos (118 yards and two touchdowns) and John Kontos (148 yards, touchdown) were equally prolific on turf. Jay Adamitis led the ISB defense with six tackles. Jonas Camacho was a two-way standout for Rota, gathering 67 yards from scrimmage on offense and making six tackles on defense.
