BRUSSELS, Belgium - Brussels beat Woodham Academy 41-24 on Saturday in the opening game of DODDS-Europe’s new four-team Independent League. The league, designed to allow small schools in northern Europe to continue playing nine-man football, also includes Menwith Hill and Lakenheath’s junior varsity team. Hayden Pfefferkorn scored three touchdowns on the day for the Brigands, while Chris Armstrong matched that total for Woodham. Michael DeFazio scored twice and Petar Vlahovic added a touchdown to round out Brussels’ prolific offensive day. Will Cole made six tackles and recovered a fumble for the Brussels defense; Woodham’s Kyle Broad led all tacklers with 11.
