Evans ran for 313 yards Saturday to lift the three-time defending European Division II champion Bitburg Barons to their 26th straight victory, a 44-0 road blanking of the previously unbeaten SHAPE Spartans.According to SHAPE coach Randy Potter, Evans and his blockers ignored the game-long rains to spring Evans for long scoring runs of 95, 60 and 54 yards in the first half. Evans, who totaled 122 return yards, also scored on a 70-yard punt return.Bryson Randall added a defensive touchdown for the Barons when he returned a pass interception 19 yards for a score. Randall’s defensive mates Justin Martel and Curtiss Wilson also excelled, Potter added. Among Martell’s eight solo tackles were four for losses, and he and Wilson each were credited with five quarterback hurries.SHAPE managed 211 yards of total offense. Connor Manning led the ground portion of that total with 78 yards; quarterback Brett Cain completed seven-of-12 passes for 82 yards.Defensively, SHAPE (2-1-1), which moves on to play at AFNORTH on Saturday in a II-North game, got four solo stops and a forced fumble from Clay Coon.Bitburg will put its winning streak on the line again Saturday, this time at Aviano in a non-conference match-up.
