BRUNSSUM, Netherlands – Ben McDaniels hauled in two touchdown passes Saturday, and D’Vonte Dawson broke a 46-yard fourth-quarter TD run to propel the Baumholder Bucs to a 25-6 Division II-North victory over the AFNORTH Lions. For the day, McDaniels caught six passes which netted 117 yards. He took two of them into the end zone, a 38-yard halfback pass from James Milledge and a 5-yard scoring toss from sophomore quarterback Christian Kubas, who was 7-of-12 for 113 yards.Milledge led the Bucs’ ground game, carrying 13 times for 101 yards; Dawson ran six times for 86 yards.Baumholder, which took an early lead when Breon Herbert blocked an AFNORTH punt and returned it 25 yards for a first-quarter TD, improved to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Bucs are to host International School of Brussels on Friday in a game which will determine which of those two teams will play at home in the European Division II quarterfinals on Oct. 22.Despite 138 rushing yards on 23 carries by Tony Legare and three receptions which netted 72 yards by Victor Black, AFNORTH’s lone TD came in the first period when Daniel Cordova fell on a fumble in the Baumholder end zone.Baumholder’s defense defused the work of Legare and Black behind 11 tackles by Herbert and 10 each from McDaniels, who picked off an AFNORTH pass, and Ben Holliday. Dasante Brown made nine stops and chalked up a sack of Cordova, AFNORTH’s new starting QB.Next up for AFNORTH (0-4, 0-3), which got seven solo tackles and eight assists from Mac Currie, five solos and 11 assists from Aldon Pagio and two sacks from Black, is a Saturday road game at winless SHAPE. That game’s winner qualifies to play at the home field of the II-South champion in the D-II quarterfinals on Oct. 22. The loser will put away its gear until next summer.
