VICENZA, Italy -- The Aviano Saints improved their postseason odds Saturday with a 23-14 defeat of the Vicenza Cougars.

The win evens Aviano's record at 2-2 on the season. The Saints can lock in a winning season and postseason berth next weekend with a home-field win over their other Italian rival, the winless Naples Wildcats.

Vicenza falls to 1-3 on the season and needs a win over cruising Hohenfels next weekend to have a chance at a return to the playoffs.

Hayden Roers had a pair of rushing touchdowns for Aviano, while Aaron Island returned an interception 40 yards for a score. Lorenzo King added a 32-yard field goal in the win.

Xavier Castlebury had a 95-yard punt return for Vicenza and Peter Toves rushed for 71 yards.

The win snaps a two-game losing streak for Aviano. Vicenza was denied a second straight win after beating Naples on Oct. 3.
