AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy – Andrew Bert booted a 33-yard first-quarter field goal Saturday, and Corey Webb ran five yards in the third quarter for the game’s only touchdown as the Aviano Saints stretched their Division II-South winning streak to two games with a 9-0 blanking of the Hohenfels Tigers.“It was a defensive battle with multiple turnovers and over 200 yards in penalties for both teams,” emailed Aviano coach Richard Dahlstrom. “Darnell Lewis led the Saints defensively with nine tackles, and Myron McRae had seven.”All told, Dahlstrom reported, the Saints (2-1 overall, 2-0 in II-South) held the Tigers, who did not complete a pass, to 49 yards rushing.Aviano will attempt to keep its conference record unbeaten this Saturday at Naples. For Hohenfels (0-2, 0-2) Jean Aquino had five tackles, one of them a sack. James Robinson led the Tigers with nine tackles, and Charles Boateng, Mike Dongus, and Andre Becker each recovered a fumble. Xavier Davis returned three punts for a total of 75 yards.Next up for Hohenfels is a Friday-night game at Ansbach.
