VICENZA, Italy – Michael Hauser scored his second touchdown of the game with less than 5 minutes to play Saturday, giving the Aviano Saints the lead and eventually a 25-22 victory Saturday over the Vicenza Cougars.

The victory kept the Saints (3-0, 3-1 overall) alive for the top seed in the DODEA-Europe Division-II playoffs and assured them of hosting one of the semifinal games on Oct. 26. Aviano hosts Rota (3-0, 4-0) on Saturday with the top seed on the line. Vicenza, which fell to 2-2 and 2-3 overall, will travel to the play the loser of that game in the semifinals. Naples and SHAPE are set to play Saturday, with the winner traveling to play the division’s top seed.

Aviano, which scored in every quarter, trailed 22-13 at halftime before rallying.

Hauser not only ran the ball in the end zone twice but threw another to Donavin Robinson. Robinson also scored on a rushing touchdown.

Rene Macias had two interceptions for the Saints, while Elijah Warren and Jace Boren had one each. David Ruiz and DJ Vaughns each had six tackles for Aviano, with Daniel Merrill and Raymond Harden each credited with five.

No information was available for Vicenza.
