HOHENFELS, Germany - The defending champion Ansbach Cougars climbed back into the DODEA-Europe Division III football playoff race Friday with a convincing 47-18 defeat of the host Hohenfels Tigers.

Ansbach blew open a tie game with 27 unanswered points across the second and third quarters.

Devin Jenkins paced the Cougars offensively, rushing 13 times for 158 yards and three touchdowns and catching three passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Dustin Martin completed five passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns. Brenden Henderson added 41 rushing yards and 20 receiving yards, including a touchdown catch.

Ryan Hale threw three touchdown passes for a combined 129 yards to fuel the Tiger offense. Brooklyn Davis, Jayquan Jefferson and Jared Wiggins each hauled in one of Hale’s touchdown throws.

Josiah Jackson had 11 tackles to lead Ansbach, while Josiah Quinland made 10 tackles and returned a fumble recovery for a 60-yard touchdown.

The win improves Ansbach to 3-2 on the season, with a bye week next weekend followed by its season finale against Alconbury on Oct. 26.

The Cougars are looking to finish in the top two in the seven-team league and thereby earn a return trip to the European title game Nov. 2.
