AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy -- The Aviano Saints continued to roll through their DODEA-Europe Division II football schedule Saturday, routing the SHAPE Spartans 62-20 for their second win in as many games.

The outcome was in doubt only briefly as Aviano scored 24 points in the first quarter and 32 more in the second. A third-quarter touchdown pushed the game past the mercy-rule threshhold, after which neither team scored a point.

The heroes were legion for Aviano: Ferious Nieves threw two touchdowns, Tony Perales found the end zone twice on touchdown receptions and again on an interception, and Donavin Robinson and Khiry Thomas each notched two touchdowns.

Matthew Owen threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns passes for SHAPE. Nolan Procknall caught five passes for 100 yards, including two touchdowns. Cory Oliver caught scored on one of his two receptions.

On defense, Vincenzo Iorio and Sam Henig each had 5.5 tackles.

Next weekend brings a showdown between Aviano and 2017 runner-up Rota. The 2-0 Saints are still awaiting a verdict from DODEA-Europe on their canceled Sept. 8 game against International School of Brussels, a decision which figures to have postseason implications if Aviano’s strong start continues.

SHAPE visits reigning champion Spangdahlem next weekend.
