Hey, college basketball coaches! Got any plans for Saturday?

DODEA-Europe will hold its annual showcase of many of the top hoop players from American high schools around Europe this weekend, with more than 40 boys and girls participating.

Vilseck hosts the Friday-Saturday event. But those who can’t make it in person can catch the action streamed via the school’s YouTube channel.

The event is held a week after DODEA-Europe ended its season by crowning six champions over three divisions of boys and girls play.

Friday’s action begins at 5 p.m. and features skill and 3-point shooting contests. Saturday, the players will be divided into two teams with the girls playing at noon and the boys following.

Among the boys invitees are three players from Division I champion Wiesbaden, including tournament MVP Joel Idowu, and three more from D-III champ Baumholder, including tourney MVP Gregory Makubuya.

Ramstein’s Jaivionne Jones, named MVP of the D-I event; American Overseas School of Rome’s Natalia DiMatteo, MVP of D-II; and Ansbach’s Kennedy Lange, MVP of D-III, will be featured in the girls events.

Coaches participating include Wiesbaden’s David Brown, Hohenfels’ Michael Weston, Baumholder’s Dewayne Piggé, Vilseck’s Joe Grimes and Adrian Crawford and Rota’s Nico Porter on the boys side and Stuttgart’s Nathan Garrett, Vilseck’s Darci Neville, Vicenza’s John Kohut and AFNORTH’s Matt Wise on the girls.
