The International School of Brussels recovered from an early setback Friday night to defeat AFNORTH 20-6 in Brussels.

The victory puts ISB (4-0) in the driver’s seat to host the championship game in the nine-man football division. The Lions (3-1) fall into second place with a 1.5-game lead over a trio of squads in third.

AFNORTH jumped to a 6-0 lead on the first play from scrimmage, but the Raiders erased that by halftime with a one-point advantage. ISB added a pair of touchdowns before the game was called at the start of the fourth quarter because the Lions had to catch the bus back to the Netherlands.

Junior quarterback Max Ball paced the Raiders, going 10 of 21 for 160 yards and two scores. Wideout Ben Vannest and senior H-back Jonathan Cornet were the recipients of Ball’s touchdowns.

Senior running back Alex Chapman added another touchdown on the ground.

Terry Koo led the ISB defense with 19 tackles, and defensive back Ezra Clayborne picked off two passes.

Both teams have next weekend off before returning to action. AFNORTH hosts SHAPE on Oct. 24, while ISB travels to Aviano on Oct. 25.
