KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Kenny Bean hit three straight three-pointers in the opening minutes Friday to get the Sembach-Vogelweh Tigers started on a 67-55 victory over the Keflavik Vikings in the finals of the 2006 USAFE Small Units basketball tourney.

Bean’s threes sparked an 11-0 game-opening run from which the Vikings never recovered, although Keflavik closed to 28-24 at halftime and 36-34 with 15 minutes to play.

From there, however, three-pointers again proved Keflavik’s undoing. Threes by Josh Bruggen and Gerald Herron helped the Tigers go up 48-37 with 10 minutes to go, and Keflavik never got closer than four points the rest of the way.

Bobby Caldwell led the Tigers with 23 points.

Nate Harvey scored 15 points and Frank Utley 14 to lead Keflavik.

Named to the all-tournament team were Bean, Bruggen and Caldwell of Sembach-Vogelweh; Utley and Harvey from Keflavik; Lionel Jennings and Freddie Daniels from Menwith Hill; Sam Mercedes and Dave Phillips from Croughton; and Cornell Wright of Geilenkirchen.
