(Scores and schedules for all four divisions at end of story)

MANNHEIM, Germany — Pairings have been set for the Division I final and the Division III semifinals, which were being played late Friday, and for the Division II final on Saturday in the DODDS-Europe high school basketball tournament.

When this edition of Stars and Stripes went to press, the Division I finals were in progress. In the girls game, unbeaten and top-seeded Kaiserslautern was playing defending champion Ramstein, and for the boys, top-seeded Wiesbaden was playing defending-champ Würzburg.

But it could have easily been Kaiserslautern and Ramstein in both games after two tight boys semifinals Thursday night. K-town fell to Wiesbaden 44-42, and Ramstein missed the front end of a one-and-one with no time left in a 49-48 loss to Würzburg.

In Division III, the story of the tournament continued as seventh-seeded Ansbach, 2-11 during the regular season, bounced third-seeded Baumholder 47-45 in overtime to earn a semifinal matchup against top-seeded Sigonella. Sigonella beat London Central 57-45.

In the other semifinal, Vicenza, which stunned Hohenfels 37-36, will play Bamberg, which defeated defending champion Rota 60-56 on Friday.

Those winners will square off for the title at 2 p.m. Saturday.

In Division II, Hanau’s girls cruised into Saturday’s 6 p.m. final with a 59-35 conquest of AFNORTH. Defending champion Hanau got 16 points from All-European Kyri Bye-Nagel and 14 from Latanya Wilson.

The Lady Panthers’ surprise opponent will be Bitburg, which upset second-seeded SHAPE 43-38. Bitburg, 5-9 during the regular season, handed Hanau its only loss of the year, 36-29 at Bitburg.

In the boys bracket, defending champ Hanau ousted top-seeded Aviano 58-35, and SHAPE rallied from a 12-point third-quarter deficit to claim a 59-46 victory over Bitburg.

Perry Cannie scored 23 points, and Malcolm Lane handed out 10 assists for Hanau, which is chasing its third straight Division II crown.

Quentin Fowler scored 12 points after intermission and 16 in all to lead SHAPE, which got four blocks from 6-8 Alejandro Villaneuva.

Tickets good for all four title games Saturday are $5 for adults and $3 for students. All games will be played at the Benjamin Franklin Sports Arena.
