CAMP COURTNEY, Okinawa — Courtney-Hansen coach Tony Bowman admittedly entered Sunday’s Okinawa Football League regular-season finale with one eye cast toward the league playoffs.

Using two quarterbacks, nine running backs and varied formations, Bowman’s Titans posted 425 offensive yards and eight touchdowns in a 56-0 rout of the Ryukyu University Stingray.

Foremost in Bowman’s mind was next Sunday’s semifinal against the Schwab Panthers — the two 5-3 teams played a pair of overtime games in the regular season and meet again in.

“We wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Bufkin, who served as Bowman’s defensive assistant last season, when the Titans played in the U.S. Forces Japan-American Football League. “This is who we want to play.”

Bowman said Sunday’s game was a chance for “a lot of experimentation, and trying to get mentally focused. We also used the opportunity to have players play positions they haven’t played.”

Backup quarterback Greg Callier went 4-for-6 for 106 yards in less than a quarter of play, including touchdown passes of 68 yards to Willie Simmons and 11 to Vedel Poindexter.
