Tina Eakin, a soldier based at Camp Humphreys, South Korea, helped Team USA capture the mixed-age group gold medal in the 15th International Military Sports Council (CISM) Triathlon meet last week in Otepaa, Estonia.

Eakins, a staff sergeant assigned to the 602nd Aviation Support Battalion, took second place in the age-group category for women 35 and older. She completed the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40.2-kilometer bicycle ride and 10-kilometer run in 2 hours, 27 minutes and 5 seconds. Heidi Grimm of Fort Carson, Colo., won with a time of 2:14:39.4.

That, coupled with the men’s age-group finishes of Michael McCoy (fourth), Daniel Frost (sixth) and Michael Ferreira (eighth), netted Team USA the mixed age-group championship.

Team USA placed seventh in the elite division, won by Germany.
