MONS, Belgium — All-Europe senior center Bernard Burwell scored a game-high 20 points Saturday to help the Kaiserslautern Red Raiders to their third straight victory, a 57-33 conquest of the SHAPE Spartans.
K-town’s Brennan Dickerson added 9 points, and Derryk Scarvers and Thomas Russ, who took game rebounding honors with 14, each scored eight points.
Combined with Friday’s 52-26 domination of visiting Lakenheath, the victory elevated K-town’s overall record to 3-1, all against Division I foes. After opening the season with an 89-70 loss to unbeaten visiting Heidelberg on Dec. 3, K-town downed Patch, 53-48, Dec. 4 before resuming the season Friday and Saturday with this weekend’s victories.
SHAPE fell to 0-5 overall, but the Spartans are 0-0 in Region I. They are to open that season against the International School of Brussels this weekend.
Ryan Valentine topped the SHAPE scoring chart with 18 points; his teammate Ryan Howard pulled down 10 rebounds.
Friday against visiting Lakenheath, K-town’s Russ grabbed game scoring and rebounding honors with 20 and 14, respectively. Burwell grabbed 11 rebounds and Dickerson added 10 points.
