Several boys’ league leaders from all over the continent maintained perfect conference records in high school basketball on Friday and Saturday.

In Division I, the three-time champion Heidelberg Lions, rebounding from a 43-41 escape Tuesday at Kaiserslautern, traveled to International School of Brussels and came away with a pair of 40-point victories to improve to 9-0 (7-0 league).

Division II leader Hanau (6-0) was idle, but III-North leader Brussels routed visiting Alconbury twice to go to 6-0 in conference play.

In III-South, Bamberg defeated visiting Bad Aibling twice to advance to 4-0 in league play, while Aviano maintained its perfect record (8-0) and sole possession of first place in the American Schools in Italy League standings.

Heidelberg wields road broom

BRUSSELS — Junior center Jamal John, an All-Europe second-teamer for Giessen last season, led the Lions. He scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Friday’s 62-22 victory, then came back Saturday with 18 points and 16 rebounds in a 73-33 triumph.

Another returning All-Europe second-teamer, James Williams, handed out 11 assists on Friday and scored 10 points on Saturday. Heidelberg’s returning All-Europe first-teamer, Jonathan Williams, scored 11 points and pulled down 16 rebounds on Saturday.

Heidelberg is idle until Jan. 30, then plays four of its final five games at home.
