CAMP WALKER, South Korea – They’d endured a rough go in their non-conference games with Kubasaki and Kadena, losing both contests, including a 43-18 drubbing at Kubasaki.

Turns out, a return to DODDS Korea play was just what the doctor ordered for Daegu American. The Warriors continued to pile up school firsts during Friday’s 40-14 pounding of Seoul American.

In addition to clinching at least a tie for their second straight DODDS Korea title, the Warriors recorded back-to-back season series sweeps of the Falcons for the first time in school history.

“It feels good,” coach Ken Walter said, adding that his Daegu squad “didn’t play Warrior ball last week. So, we really challenged the guys to get back to doing what we do.”

What Daegu did on Friday was score almost every time it touched the football. “The offense is finally starting to gel,” Walter said. “They couldn’t stop us tonight.”

Jarel “Tank” Connie ran 10 times for 74 yards and a touchdown. Jacobi Myles added 70 yards on seven carries and caught a 48-yard touchdown pass. Tre Griffin went 4-for-8 passing for 90 yards and two TDs and ran for 15 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

Christian Dawes caught an 11-yard touchdown pass and also had an interception. Watson Wallace had an interception, returned a fumble 45 yards for a score and combined with Connie for a first-quarter safety.

All of that meant a rough night at the office yet again for coach Billy Ratcliff and the Falcons (0-4). “It will continue to be until we block,” Ratcliff said. “It’s hard to rebuild when you have all these losses and three seniors.”

After falling behind 32-0 by halftime, the Falcons showed signs of life in the second half, getting Harold Martin touchdown passes of 60 yards to Adrian Thomas and 5 to Tommy Akinbayo. “We threw it well, but we couldn’t generate anything on the ground,” Ratcliff said.

Daegu only needs a win Oct. 15 at Osan American to wrap up the league title and its second straight Far East Division II title-game berth.
