RAF MILDENHALL, England — It was a textbook performance Saturday for the Alconbury Dragons as they outplayed the Rota Admirals and won, 46-6, in DODDS-Europe Division III football.

The Dragons celebrated their homecoming and grabbed a much needed victory after they had to forfeit their last game, a 26-20 double-overtime victory over Sigonella on Sep. 25, for having an ineligible player.

Alconbury finished with 452 yards, due in part to the return of sophomore Jeff Black at quarterback. Black threw for 113 yards and two TDs to tight end Taylor Williamson. Black also ran for 137 yards and one TD.

“After last game’s forfeit, this game was a must win situation,” said coach Jeffrey Black. “We still ran for a lot of yards, but having Jeff Black back on the field allowed us to spread the ball more effectively.”

Dragon tailback Kerey Kuheana totaled 181 yards and four TDs on the ground and also had 66 yards receiving. On defense, Kuheana had 15 tackles, caused one fumble, and grabbed one interception.

“Our offense and defense flew to the ball today,” Black said.

Dragon linebackers Beau Hocevar and Alex Sears had 15 and nine tackles, respectively.

The Admirals adjusted their game plan for the second half, which allowed them to put together some sustained drives deep into Dragon territory. And senior quarterback Kevin Banks capitalized on a sneak up the middle for the Admirals’ only TD.

Stats for the Admirals were not available.

On Oct. 16, Alconbury travels to Brussels, where they meet a 0-2 Brigands football team. The Admirals square-off against Menwith Hill next week in Spain in their homecoming game.
