From his web site: Coffman, on national defense -- Those who serve our nation in defense of freedom must never be forgotten when they return home. It is our duty to provide for our veterans and their families by affording the necessary funding for services in the most cost effective manner possible ... The primary role of any government is the protection of its citizens. Keeping the peace by maintaining a strong military is essential to deterring those who would wish to harm Americans. While adequate funding for our military is always essential, we must work harder to cut wasteful defense spending. Costly nation building operations should not be used as a principle tool for achieving America’s security objectives but instead we should rely more heavily on supporting indigenous factions within a given region that share our strategic security interests.
